We are Liz and Jacob Chapman. We became friends while playing husband and wife in a one-act play called "The Problem," and liked the arrangement so much we decided to make it permanent. We were married on July 10, 2010 in the Rexburg, Idaho Temple. We are madly in love with music, writing, theatre, films, art, books, nature, and each other. And we find time to talk about all those loves while working on Bachelor's degrees in Theatre/English Education at BYU-Idaho.
Our great loves and influences:
Spoon, Tool, Soundgarden, John Steinbeck, Janis Joplin, Ray Bradbury, Pearl Jam, The White Stripes, The Beatles, Radiohead, Frank McCourt, and many others
Our philosophy on art (in brief):
We believe in honesty. We believe in art that says something. We believe that technique is important, but that sometimes, the honesty and the message is more influential than the technique, and that it is always more important. We believe that everything should be given context before criticism. We believe that "Art is a collaboration between God and the artist, and the less the artist does the better" (Andre Gide). We try hard not to be elitist, although at times we fail miserably. We believe in dialogue. We believe that truth and beauty can be found in the most unlikely and unexpected places and forms. And we believe that beautiful and true things are being created every single day.
